Hey everybody!
This week has been a lot better. I haven't had a chance to read any of your emails today yet so I'm going to print them off and answer them next week. But I'll try and answer everything from last week and talk about this last week too. Here it comes...
Starting with the first thing on my list...
So, the Spanish is coming still...it's slowly getting better but we've hit the point where we just want to go to Uruguay. We found out that we leave on the 14th! We leave at 3 am and fly to Montevideo, and our luggage goes over on a boat, haha! We all go through the temple as soon as we get there, so that will be cool. My whole district is going to my mission, so I'll probably be companions with some of them. I'm hoping I can go to the country, I'm getting kind of sick of the city, and we're not even really in the city.
So, last week for proselitismo was cool, we decided to knock on doors the whole day, and we FINALLY got into our first 2 houses! We taught them lessons and committed them to go to church on Sunday and to read Moroni 10. One was a really old guy that gave us candy and showed us drawings of his, and another guy was this 25 year old guy that was super nice. Sorry I don't have tons of time for details! Anyway, the area missionaries are going to take over, so hopefully they will progress. We have our last area this week and its a new area..so hopefully we can finish it off by committing somebody to be baptized (a goal of mine and Elder Coon's). That would be sweet.
Lauren, I haven't forgotten, I'm looking for a postcard but I haven't seen any...I'll keep looking though. :) So, this new group of North Americans got here a few days ago. One of them is from Provo and went to high school with Kylie and Kara! It was fun to talk to someone from Provo about home. This is a lot of random information, but I'm just trying to say what I can in this amount of time. The majority of Latinos here are very interesting, haha! I don't know why but all the Latino elders think its okay to flirt with all the Hermanas...during actividad fisica its like a scene from EFY or something...weird haha!
So, mom, I'll try to answer some of your questions from last week now... It's hard to keep investigators and go back and teach them because its only on Saturdays, and we can't really follow up on them as well as we'd like to, so a lot of times the area missionaries just take over. My district is still really cool and we're all really good friends. We all decided that we are going to Lake Powell after we gt back with our wives, haha!
The MTC is great as always, but I'm sooo ready to leave! I'm getting sick of the food and I just want to get to work. I feel like I've learned all that I can in this place (not true, but that's how I feel). 9 weeks is a long time! On pdays we do a service project, email, write and read mail, and just study and play soccer. I've gotten pretty boss at soccer. Just kidding, it's fun, though. I feel like a monster Latino and nobody wants to come near me cause I'm double all their size and they think I'm going to kick them cause I'm so tall, I don't know why! I love all the Latinos. They're all awesome!
My whole district is going to Montevideo. Every other group of North Americans either goes to Monte West or Montevideo. So we'll all be together more or less. There area bout 70 people in the MTC, total. a lot of the Latinos go to Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Venezuela, Uruguay, South American countries. All the North Americans go to Uruguay, though.
So, all is well! We just keep chugging along and we leave pretty soon! I hope everything is going well at home and I love and miss you all! I'm jealous of the summer break, I miss that. It's getting kind of cold down here now, which stinks cause I was enjoying the sun, but life is good.
Thanks for all the letters and emails! It really does make it easier to be on the other side of the world. :) I'm going to go print them off and read them now.
Oh yeah, everyone...start sending letters to the Uruguay address please, by the time I get there they should be getting there. Any letters or packages that come to the MTC after I leave will be forwarded to me in Uruguay, so that's good! Thanks!
Gotta go, love you all!!
Elder Griffin
