Well, Kamryn's cast came off on Monday. It was a long six weeks! She has been in a lot of pain again since the cast came off because she hasn't been able to bend her knee or ankle for so long. She was really excited to have it off, but she wasn't counting on so much pain in her knee, and neither was I. She's in a brace that's the same size her cast was, but at least we can take it off for a bath (yay!!!). She can't put much weight on it yet, and will still need crutches for a while. We've been going to physical therapy this week trying to improve her range of motion (she has a long way to go!) and her strength. She has a really nice physical therapist and likes him except for when he's torturing her. She got to go to the pool on Wednesday and do a little PT and play in the water, so that was good!
Our ward is doing July baptisms the last Sunday in June because of scheduling conflicts with the stake trek, so we were planning on baptizing her next week, since she was in surgery when she was supposed to be baptized in April. But, today during church the primary kids all went up to the stand to sing a song for Father's Day. When the song was over, all the kids started coming down the stairs and somehow Kamryn fell down the stairs--Sunday dress, big blue brace, crutches, and all. We, of course, were sitting in the back, and I didn't even see it happen. I was preoccupied trying to keep Cooper happy when the lady in front of me turned around and said "your daughter just fell down the stairs." I looked up and saw her lying at the bottom of the stairs, with primary kids all around her, trying to make it back to their parents on the benches. A man and a lady in our ward got to her really fast and I got up to the front as fast as I could, and we got her out the front door of the chapel into the hallway. Nothing like causing a big scene in front of everyone in sacrament meeting on Father's Day! I feel bad about that, but that's exactly what happened! So, she was in the hall crying and Rob carried her out to the car. I was just going to take her home and let her rest, so Rob went back into the meeting with the kids. She cried all the way home because her arm was hurting, and so was her ankle. I knew they must have been hurting really badly, because she wasn't the least bit concerned about her knee anymore. When we got home, I couldn't get her out of the car. She was in too much pain and her ankle was swelling fast. So, I got back in the car, went back to church, left her in the car crying, went back into sacrament meeting, sat down by Rob and started packing up our books, cheerios, and crayons, trying my best not to cause scene #2, and we all left. We dropped the kids off at home and headed to the ER. I would say "long story short", but I know its already been a very long story. Anyway, after x-rays, we found out that her left ankle is only badly sprained (thank goodness)! But the radius and ulna in her left arm broke about an inch above her wrist. (Dang)! They put a splint on it in the ER, but we'll head back to her orthopedist for a cast for another six weeks. And...now she can't use her crutches because of the broken arm. So, the baptism is postponed again, poor Kamryn is back on drugs, and I am still wishing for ONE dull moment. Oh yeah...Happy Father's Day, honey!

The little munchkin cousins at father's day dinner. They are all such
cute little buggers and the best of friends! |
In spite of it all, we had a nice night with my family when they all come over for dinner. It cheered Kamryn up to have her fun family around, and her pain medication did the trick. I have to say, I have a great family and an awesome dad! Happy Father's Day!
