Hello everyone, it's good to here that all is well at home!!
All is well here in Guay. No, unfortunately our baptisms didn't go through this weekend. But, something was wrong with the technical stuff so they will be this Saturday instead. This week has been good, its been tough in our house though. We still don't have a water heater or desks or anywhere to hang or wash our clothes, so everything is super disorganized and we don't have a phone, so its been really stressful trying to get a hold of our investigators, but we're managing somehow. We haven't gotten the mail box dropped off at our house for a couple weeks, I have no idea what has come, I have to wait til this Friday to see. Also, I've written letters and stuff but they are in the box which never got sent out, but everything will get to its place eventually. If I haven't learned anything else on the mission so far, (which, don't worry, I have) its patience.
Anyway, so we had an awesome experience this morning, we got to go and be witnesses for our two couples that are getting baptized!!! They're getting married!!! The story is awesome. We have been teaching them for a month now, but they're not married and have to be before baptism, so finally we told them last week that they're at the point where they need to progress, so we set a date for them to get baptized on August 20. Then we asked them what they need to take care of in order to get baptized on that date, so, they decided that they wanted to get married. Okay, for everyone's knowledge, the marriage process here in Guay is a JOKE. I'm convinced that Satan runs the government, and makes it super hard for people to get married so they don't think they need to. It usually takes like three months to get a marriage date here, so we were reeaaallly pushing them when we asked them to get married before the 20th of August. They went to see when they could get a date a couple days ago, and told us that the offices said that the earliest they could get married is three months out (like usual) but, randomly (because we prayed our guts out) there is a marriage date the 19th of August. ONE DAY BEFORE THEIR BAPTISM DATE!!! We are so excited! So, the two couples are getting married on the 19th of this month, and getting baptized the next day. Its soooo cool! We went and had to sign papers for them at the government offices as witnesses today, which was so cool. Michael said to me, "Thank you so much, we would never be getting married if it wasn't for you Elders." It's so cool! It's so amazing how much the Lord helps us misioneros do what needs to be done. We're pumped. They are amazing investigators. Pics coming soon!
Anyway, today we went shopping a little for the house, I'm sending a picture of a store we went to called Geant (Giant) which is literally a giant store. It like a Target, Best Buy, and the Provo mall mixed together, it is so nice and sooo big, it was like waking through a store at home. All the stores here are really nice right by the beach in Montevideo. the people are rich too, so sometimes its difficult with some of them. The pic with all the food is last pday, we made an American breakfast, haha, and ate on the floor cause we still don't have a table. All is well here, and please don't feel bad anyone, if I don't get a chance to answer all your questions I really do try. Half an hour is stressful! Thanks so much for all the pictures! I love em. I'm going to print them off and take em home. Love you all! Thanks for the support. I'm going to go use my last couple stamps now and write you all some letters.
Love from Uruguay!
Elder Griffin
