Ok, Elder Griffin is officially on his mission, and I have survived the goodbye (so far)! I don't think the TWO YEARS part has set in for me yet. The Sunday before we left we had a fun family home evening with Grandpa and Grandma Harris and cousins. We learned about missionary work and Uruguay. We had empanadas for dinner with tortas fritas and dulce de leche for dessert. It was a fun night and he got a chance to say goodbye to everyone!

Ty with his awesomely wrapped present. Thanks to our friend Casey,
it looks like the Uruguayan flag and inside was a black backpack
for his mission. Pretty cool wrapping job! |

Monday night we had a party with Hayley's family, which was a lot of fun. They are great and have been so good to Ty! Tuesday he spent with Hayley's family and our family bowling and having fun. Then it was time to say goodbye to Hayley and her family and he was set apart as a missionary Tuesday night. Wednesday morning we headed to the airport where we met two other missionaries from his mission while he was checking his bags. I was glad to know he'd be with them for the flight! After that, it was time for him to go through security, so we had to say our goodbyes, which was way harder for me that it was for him. He was just excited to go! He's had his call for four months and it's been a long wait for him. We are so proud of him and excited to hear all about his experiences in Uruguay over the next two years. I will try to post most of his e-mails. I can't wait to hear from him every Thursday, his p-day!
