Hey everyone!
So today is my first real p-day. There is so much to say, I don't know where to start! I only have half an hour before the computer turns off. I made a list of things to mention, so I'll just start at the top and go down the list, haha.
So, every day we have actividad fisica, which is basically just P.E. We all just play futbol (soccer) with the Latinos who are so good its crazy. I LOVE IT HERE! I love all the guys in my district...they're all from Utah and we're all already best friends. Soccer is a huge part of everything down here. They teach us to ask in our discussions with Latinos if they like soccer, which is obvious! It is really warm and humid here. There are tons of trees and green EVERYWHERE! Its rained a couple times since we've been here but just at night.
We learned that all the Norte Americanos are here for 8 and a half weeks, so that will be a lot of practice, haha. Technically this is week two. We have Spanish classes all day, we have learned so much its insane, its amazing how much you learn in an environment like this with the spirit as strong as it is. We wake up at 6:30 and eat and shower then we have personal and companion study from 8-10. Then we have sistrito, which is just language class with our district basically all day. Its a lot of work but I love it. This Saturday, a day after tomorrow, my companion and I, Elder Coon, get to take a mini bus out to a part of Buenos Aires where we are going to go proselyting...WISH US LUCK! I'm scared, haha. They talk sooo fast and you can study all you want, but when you talk to a native its a whole different language. We'll be proselyting from 9-5, so basically all day...I'm so excited. We're learning so much Spanish its incredible.
Mom, we've already had empanadas here and I'm sorry to say this, but they were a little bit better than the ones you made, haha. They were sooo good. The food here is awesome, lots of pasta, potatoes and steak. AHH I'm running out of time!!! I mailed off some letters so I hope they get there. I just got one today from Hayley so it takes about a week to get here, and it wasn't through the pouch which is interesting. I can only email my parents so mom, you'll have to forward this to everyone. I'm sending some pics so I hope they work! We're not really supposed to take too many pics but I had to take some! The bathrooms are really nice, that's why I sent a pic, haha, don't judge.
Just some random stuff: There are dogs here everywhere, just roaming around. Oh, and no big box packages, only padded envelopes, but I CAN get them here :). Send me some letters and stuff I'm homesick!! But I love it. There is a guard at the gate of the MTC and there are tall barbed wire fences surrounding it haha! I sent a pic of the temple that is still being remodeled, it won't be ready for about another year! The workers are dang slow. The teachers are great here and are all from Argentina, they force us to understand them haha but its good that way. We've been practicing getting contacts and stuff in English but now its all in Spanish and its a lot harder! Its so much easier to say what you want to an investigator in English but they're making us do tests in Spanish. Its going well though, we're making great progress. Oh haha p.s., I saw a picture of Colton here at the MTC while he was going to baptize some people. I was walking past and said, "Hey, that's my cousin!" Haha that's so cool.
Anyway, overall everything is great. I miss everyone at home a ton, but its awesome here too. Sorry I can't answer all your e-mails right now, but I can print them off and answer them next week. P.s. I have to give a talk in sacrament meeting on Sunday...IN SPANISH. So, wish me luck! I LOVE YOU ALL!
Yo se la iglesia de Jesucristo es verdadero!
Love, Elder Griffin
