Hey, good morning everybody! Dang, I like hearing about all the fun you had, and I miss you! I hope Lauren gets well! Dang, Lauren, that's sad, I hope that you were still able to have some fun....and it's a bummer that the weather was lousy half the time too! It's always sunny and 80 degrees here! ;P haha but it's okay, so...here's my week. Freakin' hebatnya Malaysian adventure!
So we had District Meeting on Tuesday and that's always good because we get to eat normal food. I ate Hawaiian Haystacks for the first time in forever. So, here's a cool story, really Malaysian. So, Elder Schuetz and I were walking down the big hill from the Senior Couple's apartment and we saw a monitor lizard (biawak) running in the canals by the road. So we were going to kill it so that we could eat it, but it ran away too fast, so we were thinking like Dang it, there goes our chance for some biawak. But as we continued down the hill, my comp stops and he says, "Elder, look!" So I looked in the gutter and there's just a dead biawak lying there. And it must not have been dead super long, because it didn't have any bugs on it. (It was about 3-4 feet long). So we picked it up and put it on a rock and took some pics (so you'll see those), and then we called one of the natives, Elder Tadius, and he came and then he went and cooked it and we ate it on Sunday! Nothing like roadkill biawak!
And we were talking to members about the less-actives and investigators who were dropped, and we were coming home and the member was listening to the radio and Amanda by Boston came on, and I said, "Hey, saya tahu lagu ini!" (I know this song!) So they turned it up and asked me to sing it, because they never heard me sing before, so I did....and it was pretty good to hear something other than Indian music 24/7.
Thursday we played futsal, and I guess I'm alright. That was a lot of fun, we played for about an hour, and I decided that it's my new favorite sport. Tyson, we need to play it when we get home. Malaysian soccer vs. Uruguayan soccer! Go MALAYSIA!
The Mission President came to Sabah and KK and interviewed all of us. It was really nice of him, flying everywhere to talk to all of the missionaries and just conduct a 1/2 hour interview. Everythings all good! And, I'm actually flying to Miri this Thursday. My dang flight leaves at 6:45 AM, which means I have to be at the airport by about 5:45 AM, which means I need to wake up at about 4 AM! YAY!
Well, by bike chain snapped again. But I fixed it. I swear that bike is going to be the end of me haha nothing bad happened, but it was just frustrating, so my comp and I spent like an hour making sure that my chain was working after we fixed and stuff..... But jungan risau, semua okay-lah!
By the way.......
CADEN HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to know what you got for your birthday, other than Disneyland! Speaking of Disneyland, how was it? Did everybody stay home when Lauren was sick or what? Did Lauren get a chance to go to the rides? I hope so..... (Just to let you know, my mission is like the Tarzan attraction there. I'm actually going to a suspended rope bridge today, so I'll take some pictures!)
I am also going to attempt to hike Mount Kinabalu in a day (the tallest mountain in southeast Asia--isn't it wierd your son is serving a mission in Asia of all places? Bagus-bah!)
So, everything's going great! We got another investigator, named Lazarus, he's legit! He has to take 3 buses and spend like 8 ringgit to come to Church, but he's coming, which is so good! We want him to get baptized. He was taught in Johor and in KL in West Malaysia, before he moved to the Kampung where he works! Eryetah is good! She is supposedly reading the Book of Mormon. She didn't come to church but we're hoping she'll come to the YSA activity tonight. She didn't come last time, but it's because she couldn't find the place where we were having it. Oboi....well, we changed his baptism date, because he only wants one lesson a week, and he's in his dang Kampung this week, so maybe he'll be baptized in a month or so.;.. I don't know if I told you about Brandon and Franco. They are a member's nephew and son (Brandon is 18, Franco is 17) and all is going well with them. We finished teaching about the Restoration and all seems to be going well!
Well, I love you all! Bye!
Elder Joshua H. Griffin
