So, I got that package last week on Friday...one day after pday, so I had to wait all week to get it and I still haven't opened it, but thanks so much!
Kam, I hope you're doing okay! I just skimmed over your emails you sent but I hope you're all doing okay. I'm glad you found that message from Hermano Mamone on your phone, I was wondering if you were going to find it! Oh, yeah, mom can you email me a list of birthdays, please?
So, I showed all of my new Latin roommates that I was a descendant of Hyrum Smith and they freaked out haha, they couldn't believe it. It was so funny, and every time they pass me they just shake my hand and they all wanted pictures with me. One of our new roommates is from Montevideo, he's really cool and he tells us a lot about Uruguay.
Anyway...so last week proselitismo was good. It was our last week in the Caseros area so we didn't make any citas (appointments) but it was a good day and we ended up making 15 contacts, teaching 7 lessons, and getting one referral. We had some really weird experiences that I'll share a couple of. We ran into a guy in the street and started teaching him about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon and everything, and he seemed really interested. Then he asked if our church prays, and we went into teaching him about prayer and then he just closed his eyes right there in the street and started saying a prayer, so me and Elder Coon just went along with it cause we didn't know what was going on. Anyway , he was clapping his hands and yelling and it was so weird. Finally, he ended it and walked off and we don't know what happened.
Then, an old mailman stopped us in the street and he was riding a little girl bike and started talking to us about Harrison Ford and Indiana Jones, and Osama Bin Laden and Amish people. It was the weirdest day ever! It was good, though!
This week we have a new area and we're hoping its a little bit easier so we can actually get into a house and teach a lesson, but we'll see. The Spanish is coming along really well, and I can understand almost everything the Latinos here in the MTC say, and I'm getting to where I can almost say whatever I want. Its crazy how much we've learned so fast!
I'm getting quite tan, it's sooooo hot and humid here. You go outside and just sweat like crazy! It's good here though... I'm homesick, but I've got to just keep trucking through. I miss clean houses and mountains, haha. Technically this is our fifth week here at the CCM, so I've just got a few more. I've been out one month already, crazy huh!
I'm sending a picture of me drinking a massive glass bottle of Coke that I bought proselyting. It was only 1.5 dollars USA, it was way good! Probably not good for me, but, hey. The other pic is a few guys from my district. They're awesome! Anyway, I've got to go but tell everyone I miss you all and thanks for the package! I'm going to open it in a minute. Love you all!
Love, Elder Griffin
