Bueno!
This was a good week. We just keep chugging along. We are tearing it up here in VERGARA!!! We have investigators with baptismal dates and all is well! We found this one old lady that's like 80 years old, and her husband just died a few months ago, she said that he died with a Book of Mormon in his hand that he had been reading that some other missionaries gave to him, and when she told us about it she started crying...bottom line is she's awesome and she has a baptismal date for October 15! I love it when we find the prepared people!! We have so much work here in this area I can't even tell you about all our investigators! I love it.
This picture of me with the two kids is of recent converts. Well, one of them is. The one on the right is too young. They are both sooo sweet and they always give Elder Rodriguez and me big hugs when they see us, and yell at us from down the street, "Eeeeelllllddddeeeerrrrssss!" haha, I love 'em! Today for pday we are going on a bus to one of the little villages even further outside of Vergara called Charqueada. We are going to take pics and see what its like. My companion went proselyting there once and he said that nobody even knows who we are or what the church is or anything. It is in the middle of nowhere!
We did some service for a less active member in our ward on Saturday. We were pushing our way through all of this wilderness to find some wood for him to put in his fire place, we were wearing our Sunday clothes cause we didn't have time to change. He had a machete cutting his way through, haha, and we were following behind him. I felt like George of the jungle at that moment. Then, a huge "jungle ant" found my pinky and bit it super hard. I thought I had been stabbed by a thorn of a tree, and I looked down and this massive red ant the size of a hornet was chewing on my pinky and it was bleeding all over, so I shook it off and it wouldn't go off, so finally I smashed my pinky against my leg to kill it. I love Uruguay! Its so different out here by Brazil than by Montevideo! Gosh, I have so many stories I could tell, but I have not time! We didn't get the box this week so I don't know if Kam's letter or the package came or not. It should come this week though. Thanks everyone for writing me! I gave a talk and taught gospel principles in church yesterday. We're still working on the ward callings.
I just want everyone to know how much I love you, and that the church is true! I know for 100 percent that this is Christ's church, and that the doctrine in the Book of Mormon is 100 percent pure. If you're not reading it, read it! I know that if we follow Heavenly Father's commandments because we truly love Him, we are going to be closer to him than we ever have been. I've learned a lot about myself and the church and everything, and I still have so much to learn obviously. But one thing I do know without a doubt is that we are going to live with our families forever, and that Heavenly Father and Jesus love us so much, and they want whats best for us, and all His commandments, His plan, His scriptures, His church, are given to us because He loves us. I love you all! Be good! I'm signing off til next week from Rockin' Vergara, Uruguay!
Love,
Elder Griffin
