From Elder Griffin: Well, I'm Off!

So, we got change calls last night.  I'm going to a little pueblito called Vergara, right next to Brazil.  The actual city is called Treinte y Tres, or 33.  Elder Johnson started his mission there.  Apparently, my new comp's name is Elder Rodriguez, I don't know him.

Vergara is really just a branch with a handful of members, and they don't even have a chapel there, they meet in a house with a sign that has the church's name on the front.  Elder Johnson said that because of the lack of members, he had to be called to be the branch president when he was there and teach gospel doctrine.  So, this will be interesting!  They still speak Spanish there, but its a mix of Portuguese too, so they call it Portuenol haha, I'm going to be learning all sorts of weird accents and stuff, but I can't wait.  I guess its just all fields and cows, and to get anything its an hour bus ride to the "city",  treinte y tres.  From my area now its about a four or five hour bus ride, but luckily the mission rents a charter bus called the Party Bus and puts all the missionaries that are going up to the Brazil area on it, haha.  I can't wait!!!  You guys can get on to google map and look if you want...its out in the boonies and the other elders say its a hard area, cause its really small and the church isn't set up correctly, so its going to be a tough change.  They say your main purpose there is reactivation, and there aren't very many baptisms, but I refuse to believe that.  We're going to baptize.

I'm sad to leave the investigators we have now in the area, Janet and Omar, they're getting baptized on the 17th.  But, its okay, the Lord wants me in Vergara.  So, I'm gonna need some prayers!  I don't know what to expect, haha.  Thanks for sending emails, they print them off and put them in the box so I can keep them, and thanks for sending the pics!  Because of changes we're not getting the box for awhile, and I've only gotten a couple letters this whole time I've been in Uruguay.  Uggg!  But, I'm glad you're at least getting the ones I send!  That's so cool that Connor got his call to California.   And Chinese?!!! Wow!  And Cameron, too, you'll have to let me know where he goes.

Its going to be weird! I've been in the city for three months, and now I'm going to be out in the middle of nowhere and the closest city is an hour away.  A cool thing is though, we are allowed to go to the city that borders Brazil, and they sell a bunch of stuff from the states that they don't have in Uruguay.  Can't wait!  Well, I've go to print off some pics you sent me and go pack all our stuff.  We leave tomorrow in the morning.  It's going to be a crazy week so hopefuly I can handle it, haha.  I miss you all and love you all so much!  I' glad Grandma is doing alright!

Happy Birthday, Josh!

Love you all!  Hasta luego!
