From Elder Griffin: What an Amazing Week

What an amazing week.

We had a baptism on Saturday!  Silvia got baptised finally.  I'm so happy.  We're seeing tons of miracles here in Castles...(Castillos).  I'm loving it.  I've never worked harder or had such little time, but it's totally worth it!  This next week we have two baptisms planned.  A 13 year old named Donato, and a lady named Mary.  Both are amazing and I love them.  It's so awesome the automatic love that missionaries get to have for the people they teach, I love it.  I love all these people so much.  Yesterday in church we had five investigators, haha, awesome.  The members love us here, apparently they've been wanting Elders for quite a while.  We get fed once a week though...so that kind of stinks.  And the bus ride from Castillos to Rocha every week for meeting with our district is even longer than the ride from Vergara to 33, and costs more.  So we are eeking along with the dough.  But its all good:)

There is a Sister missionary in my district from home, haha, funny  huh?  Small world.  Turns out that we know all the same people, obviously.  And its funny to think about how many missionaries in this mission are from Utah.  We all have connections.  Also I got the package from the Sister missionary from Temple Square!  I didn't get to talk to her, but when we went to Montevideo for changes she had dropped it off, haha.  That's so awesome.  Thanks!!!

So, here in Castillos we're getting around a little better now, its cooler cause its closer to the beach, and there are a bunch of rich people that are always going to the beach so we can't ever teach them.  There are a lot of people that speak English too...its weird.  We have  a bunch of stores to shop at to get food.  Its a little more expensive, cause this town is really touristy.  There is  Quicksilver clothing store and Nike and all of that stuff, so its a big change from Vergara!  The box for mail here comes when it comes, I haven't gotten any letters or emails for about a month so here in a couple days I'll get a flood of them, I believe.  Usually its once a week.  But, we're in South America haha.  Just kidding.  It'll get here.

My companion is a funny little guy.  He LOVES Enya, and I have a cd that we listen to just about every day and he freaks out haha.  He tries to sing along and its really funny.  He's really fun.  In Paraguay where he's from, they speak Spanish and Guarani, some crazy language that is a mix between Spanish and Chinese haha.  Its really weird.  But he's been teaching it to me and I've been teaching him English.  Our mission president is from Paraguay too, and speaks Guarani, so I'm going to try to talk to him in it.  Its awesome!  I love the mission!  So many opportunities and stuff...gosh.  I have no idea why anyone ever doubts for a second whether or not to serve a mission.  There's no reason to think about it.  DO IT!  I've gotta go, but I love you all and I know that your prayers and fasting help me so much.  I need it!  Cuidense y no se olviden de hacer sus oraciones y leer las escrituras cada dia jaja.  Les amo.  Chau!
