Mom Update: CELEBRATE!

Time to celebrate!!! Mom is officially finished with chemotherapy.  Yay!!!  She had her last treatment, #8, today.  Everything went just fine.  She was really dreading it, and was having some anticipatory nausea last night, knowing what's coming.  Things went great today, though!

Her sisters, Mary and Arlene went with her today and they had a nice visit during her treatment.  Afterwards, they all went to lunch for Aunt Arlene's birthday.  Mom loved being able to spend time with both of them!  Aunt Mary came down yesterday and was able to go with us when Tyson went through the temple.  We really missed mom and wished she could have been with us, but we will go again with her as soon as she's better.  Aunt Mary spent the night at mom and dad's house and is staying with them again tonight and has been busy taking mom's Christmas decorations down.  Mom loves and appreciates her sisters and had a great time celebrating with them today!

She said that food has even tasted good to her today, so dad went to Magleby's and got take-out for all of them for dinner and the delicious chocolate cake and carrot cake for dessert.  (I hope she ate that first!)  We want mom to enjoy it while she can!

One of her good friends brought a stack of Doris Day movies over, so she's going to get started on those tonight too.  (Mom loves Doris!)  She's looking forward to a fun night with Aunt Mary while she's feeling good.  We are so grateful that today went well, and we really appreciate the good days.  But, you have to take the bad with the good, and we know the symptoms from this treatment will hit in the next day or two, so we are prepared for another awful couple of weeks.  The fact that she's done now will make it a little easier, though.  Thank goodness this part of the road to recovery is over!

The doctor has told her she will have about three weeks to recover from chemo, and then it's on to radiation.  He feels like her prognosis is good, and so do we.  As hard as life is sometimes, the blessings ALWAYS outweigh the trials.

Thank you again to our sweet family and friends.  We know the next few weeks will be rocky, but we also know we will continue to feel your prayers. Thanks so much!

Thanks for your post. I was thinking about your mom today and wondering about this last dose of Chemo. That is some great news, I am so glad she is through this phase of the treatment. We continue to pray and wish her well.
